Citizenship and Academic Engagement: Public and Social Service Design
Service-learning promotes not only citizenship but also academic engagement and responsibility. As one of the first service-learning courses implemented on the campus Public and Social Service Design is specifically developed as a forum for graphic design students to consider and expand their roles as members of a community and allows them to take a public stand on issues of importance. This course deals with issues of advocacy. Students hone not only their artistic and professional skills, but also their understanding of the fundamental issues of today’s society and what they, as professional artists, can do in service to others.
